Youth Ministries

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from  it." (Proverbs 22:6)

We believe that the Goal of Orthodox Christian Youth Ministry is the integration of each young person fully into the total life of the Church. We believe that Orthodox Christians must commit themselves to living the Orthodox Faith daily. Worship, Witness, Service and Fellowship are the natural expressions of that commitment.

  • Junior SOYO - In keeping with the SOYO tradition of living the Orthodox Faith through Worship, Fellowship, Witness and Service; Junior SOYO provides an opportunity for our younger children to come together to deepen the understanding of the Orthodox Faith and traditions, to get to know other children in our church family and begin to learn how to answer God’s call for us to serve others. At each meeting children learn about a saint, or a theme relative to that time in the liturgical cycle. They also play games, and partake in other fun activities and learn about ways they can help others in our church community and the world in general..

  • Teen SOYO - (Society of Orthodox Youth Organizations) is the youth movement of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Its mission and purpose is to live the Orthodox Faith in Christ through worship, witness, service and fellowship. The Saint George chapter, consisting of all teenagers in the parish, meets monthly to build fellowship and plan service projects. Some of our annual social events include apple picking (in preparation for our annual apple pie winter fundraiser), Baseball games, Six Flags trips, and summer barbecues. In addition to social activities, Teen SOYO plans a number of service projects throughout the year, such as visiting nursing homes, conducting food drives, and going on mission trips. The ultimate goal of all of these activities is to integrate each teenager fully into the life of the Church, as well as to forge lifelong bonds among them centered around Christ.
