Archdiocese Certificates of Meritorious Service awards to our Choir Members with 30+ years of service will be awarded to the honorees at the end of Divine Liturgy on Sunday, January 28, 2007. May our Almighty God grant many years to all those who lead us in worship! The Saint George Orthodox Cathedral Wedding Choir, of Worcester, Massachusetts, under the direction of Joyce Peters, was formed in 1991 with eight members. Its original mission was to musically enhance the traditional Orthodox wedding service. Through the Grace of God, the choir has more than tripled in size and consists of members from Orthodox Churches throughout Worcester County. These dedicated and talented volunteers practice weekly and sing at weddings throughout New England. Proceeds from these weddings are given to several Orthodox Charities, including the Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester. The choir, with its mature sound, has performed not only for weddings, but has been asked to give performances to aid in fundraising for several Orthodox endeavors. One such concert was given for the Mission of St. Michael's of Cape Cod. The choir has also had the honor to perform for His Emminence Metropolitan PHILIP Saliba, Primate of The Antiochian Archdiocese of North America in the fall of 2000. As the choir continues to grow, it is its desire to expose more people to the beauty of sacred music from a variety of traditions....Byzantine, Slavic and Western. Below you will find a couple songs from the "Come Bless the Lord" CD.
